Student Permits

UBC Okanagan offers two types of permits to the student community:

Commuting student permits

For students enrolled in UBC credit courses not living in a UBC residence.

Resident student permits

For students enrolled in UBC credit courses living in a UBC residence.

Permit Demand

  • Parking is in extremely high-demand September–April.
  • Student permits are sold through a waitlist system.
  • Parking permit allocations are subject to availability.
  • High-demand parking lots include: B, E, F, R (Resident only) and S
  • Parking lots with greater availability include: G, H, J and W

Conditions

  • To purchase parking, you must be actively enrolled in a UBC Credit course.
  • You parking account must include accurate, current, and complete information, including: 
    • full name, address, telephone number, email address, vehicle information (make and government issued license plate number of any and all vehicles to be registered under the permit).
  • Up to 5 vehicles can be registered to a parking permit.  Only 1 vehicle is authorized to park on campus at any given time.
  • All outstanding violations must be paid prior to purchasing a parking permit.
  • Paid parking is in effect year round including holidays and weekends.

Fall/Winter Permits

Offered through a waitlist system. Permits may be purchased for:

Fall + Winter Semester
September–April (2 terms)		 Lot I: $ 516

Lot B, J: $684
Lot E, F, G, S, W: $768		 Waitlist placement opens at or near the beginning of August via UBC Parking account. Check Announcements for date and time.

Before the waitlist open date

  • Create or login to your UBC Parking account with your UBC CWL.
  • Make sure your account information and details are up to date.

Once waitlists are open

  • Login to your UBC Parking account.
  • Select “Add/Edit Waitlist”
  • Only lots available for waitlist placement will be displayed.
  • If you do not see your preferred lot, that means waitlist capacity is full.
  • You can add your name to the waitlists for up to four lots.

Once permits are offered

  • Permits are awarded based on your waitlist placement.
  • If you become eligible to receive a permit, you will be e-mailed a purchase offer.
  • Be sure to monitor your email closely including spam and junk mail folders. Add parking.support@ubc.ca to your list of ‘safe senders’, so offers land in your inbox.
  • You will have a limited number of days to purchase, as noted in your permit award email.
  • If a permit is not purchased during this time, the purchase offer will expire and the permit will be awarded to the next person on the waitlist.

Tip! For the best chance to receive a permit, choose lots with the largest number of stalls: H, I, J and G.

Spring/Summer Permits

There is no waitlist for spring and summer term permits. Permits may be purchased for:

Spring only

Spring + Summer
May 1–August 31		 Lot H: $300
Lot B, J: $342

  • Students living in residence who require parking must purchase in R lot.
  • R lot is exclusively reserved for residents—it’s the only campus lot where overnight parking is allowed.
