Sustainability Initiatives

There are many sustainable options for travelling to and from UBC’s Okanagan campus including carpooling, cycling and public transit.

Carpooling is a simple way to reduce emissions while saving money, reducing congestion, and conserving energy along the way. Carpool parking is available at some UBC Okanagan lots. See Find Parking.

UBC Okanagan supports a number of cycling initiatives:

UBCO and the City of Kelowna are working together to improve bike access to the campus and improve bike facilities on campus. For details on bicycle lanes, bicycle routes, and bicycle paths within Kelowna, see the City of Kelowna Bicycling.

Kelowna buses are equipped with bike racks to make your commute easier, although the smaller buses do not use racks in the evenings for safety reasons. Visit BC Transit–Kelowna Regional Transit System.

There are several transit routes serving UBCO connecting the campus to Kelowna, Lake Country and Vernon. For more information on routes and schedules please visit BC Transit.

ProPASS is a discounted transit pass program for faculty and staff. For more information about the program, visit ProPASS.

All full-time students at UBC Okanagan automatically receive a U-Pass, which is a universal transit pass that gives unlimited access to regional public transportation. Visit the UBC Students’ Union Okanagan website for U-Pass information.
